{"id":1948,"date":"2016-11-16T08:11:37","date_gmt":"2016-11-15T19:11:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/bigredcouch\/?p=1948"},"modified":"2016-11-16T08:21:58","modified_gmt":"2016-11-15T19:21:58","slug":"earthquake-in-new-zealand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/bigredcouch\/2016\/11\/earthquake-in-new-zealand\/","title":{"rendered":"Earthquake in New Zealand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There was an earthquake, followed by a large number of large aftershocks across a large swath of the country, in the South Island of New Zealand a couple of days ago.<\/p>\n<p>Followed by some tsunami warnings which had people heading for high ground along a good chunk of the East Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Followed by a storm which blew into the middle of the country to\u00a0<em>really<\/em> make things difficult.<\/p>\n<p>I have no idea whether it made the news in your area; We are, after all, right out at the raggedy edge of the world in some respects, and there are some fairly momentous things happening these days.<br \/>\nI&#8217;d like to let you know that the Big Red Couch crew are all fine.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u00a0<em>(Craig)<\/em>\u00a0am in the UK, and would have to try very hard to get any further from the quakes.<\/li>\n<li>Ben lives hundreds of kilometers from the events, and is unaffected.
