{"id":141,"date":"2014-08-08T21:38:22","date_gmt":"2014-08-08T09:38:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/?p=141"},"modified":"2014-08-09T03:23:52","modified_gmt":"2014-08-08T15:23:52","slug":"holiday-2014-journey-near-the-antipodes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/?p=141","title":{"rendered":"Holiday 2014 &#8211; Journey Near The Antipodes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not really a lot of trip reporting as of yet, as the trip hasn&#8217;t quite started.<\/p>\n<p>My bags are as packed as I can get them the day before a trip, and neither is very close to the weight limit, which strikes me as a good thing.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s convention plans involve LonCon 3 <em>(WorldCon in London)<\/em> and Shamrokon. <em>(The European convention, in Dublin, Ireland)<\/em><br \/>\nThere will be some touristing, a visit to Chris in Essex <em>(I met Chris at Gen Con in 2012, and despite having met me already, he was willing to do so again \ud83d\ude42 )<\/em>, and a trip to Zurich via Paris to catch with Jono &#038; see whatever there is to see in Switzerland.<br \/>\n<em>Heavily-armed cuckoo-clocks made of chocolate, maybe? <\/em><\/p>\n<p>That <strong>may<\/strong> not be too far out; The Lindt factory is in Zurich, and I&#8217;m told they do tours. There&#8217;s also the Guiness Brewery tour in Dublin, and I&#8217;m sure I can find <strong>something<\/strong> to do in London, &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em>But seriously, folks, I have some ideas &#038; suggestions, probably more than I have time to do<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trinity College Library<\/li>\n<li>Guiness Brewery Tour<\/li>\n<li>The Dublin Museum of Natural History<\/li>\n<li>The London Stone<\/li>\n<li>The Tower Of London<\/li>\n<li>a museum of science &#038; technology in London, though the specific name escapes me right now<\/li>\n<li>Foyles Bookstore, Charing Cross<\/li>\n<li>The Ork&#8217;s Nest RPG Store<\/li>\n<li>Southend Pier &#8211; <em>this one got onto the list because I noticed it on a map, and Chris was kind enough to get a brochure<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, what did I miss?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Forbidden Planet in London?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not really a lot of trip reporting as of yet, as the trip hasn&#8217;t quite started.
