{"id":1491,"date":"2016-08-28T01:49:47","date_gmt":"2016-08-28T00:49:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/?p=1491"},"modified":"2016-09-09T19:04:59","modified_gmt":"2016-09-09T18:04:59","slug":"detroit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/?p=1491","title":{"rendered":"Detroit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most of the Detroit content, to be honest, is in the <a href=\"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/?p=1372\">Henry Ford<\/a> post.<br \/>\nWhat&#8217;s in here are a few photos and some things I noticed.<\/p>\n<p>On the way back from The Henry Ford, we stopped in at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atwaterbeer.com\/locations\/atwater-in-the-park\/\">Atwater in the Park<\/a>, a craft brewery in a former church.<br \/>\nI had a cider, though, in deference to it being Detroit, it was their &#8216;Detroit&#8217; Yes, there were places where one side of the road looked like a different city than the other.<br \/>\nIn at least one case it&#8217;s because it actually\u00a0<strong>is<\/strong> a different city, but it&#8217;s sort of jarring to see.<\/p>\n<p>Other parts of the city put me in mind of, oddly, Taumarunui in 2004, when I was there for a job interview.<br \/>\nYou had immaculately maintained places next to houses which were only held up by the paint, and this had the same vibe, with the amplitude turned up until the knob fell off.<\/p>\n<p>I took no pictures, partly because we were in a car, but mostly because there enough pictures out there of Detroit for &#8220;City Falling Apart&#8221; stories.<br \/>\nSomething I wish I&#8217;d had the camera ready for were community get-togethers we saw; Clusters of those pop-up gazebo things &amp; people trying to get a &#8230; something &#8230;
