Buying a ticket for the cliff railway took a while, not because their systems are slow, but because a group of indeterminate size took forever to buy tickets. They were clearly from somewhere in Europe, but their English skills were good enough to engage in commerce from what I could tell; What took the time was:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • They couldn’t all be in the one spot, so people were always wandering off<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Nobody seemed to know how many tickets they needed<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Everyone had to be involved in the purchase, and had opinions and comments <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Remember how they kept wandering off? Yeah, that didn’t help with the previous step <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Multiple loud conversations and cross-conversations were happening while all of the above was going on<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • This was all happening at the head of the queue, right in front of the ticket booth, so while they were unable to buy a ticket, neither could anyone else<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    I wandered away from the building & back again a few times, over maybe a five minute period, until I could see that they weren’t there. Or anywhere nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    ANYWAY, I eventually rode the little funicular train up the hill, and … The views are pretty good. There’s a walking path up, so you don’t have to take the railway, and one that heads out along the coast; Saw a few people heading out in that direction with a distinct “going on a hike” manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    There’s a little cafe at the top of course, so I took the opportunity to have the Welshest possible Welsh cakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Also headed out along the waterfront to the other end of Aberystwyth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
