It was Good Friday, and the weather was nice, so some friends who care about cricket went to Lord’s to watch a match. Or maybe the first day of a longer match; I’m not sure, the ticket is unspecific, and I don’t really care enough to ask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turns out it’s the first day of a four day County Cricket match, which makes sense for it being the first day of a four day weekend.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m just here to hang out with friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a fun day. I fully expected to get bored & wander off, and the folks I was with were fine with that, but in the end it didn’t happen. ( they were a bit surprised by that )<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can’t say that I paid that<\/em><\/strong> much attention to the game all day, but there were moments of doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was never crowded in there; More empty seats than full by far, even in the stands that were open. There weren’t a lot of food\/drink places open, presumably because there weren’t many patrons; Not that this affected us beyond the quest for coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it’s just a Lord’s thing that you’re supposed to remain in your seat & not move around during the over? It meant that there’d be these sudden flurries of action as people left or came back while the fielders swapped ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After we left & got a drink in the pub next door, where the match was being shown on the TV, a fox turned up at the ground & was running around the place. The ground staff were probably trying to contain it, which wasn’t working, and I’m pretty sure it peed on the equipment bags for one of the teams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
