{"id":713,"date":"2016-03-19T18:59:18","date_gmt":"2016-03-19T05:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/?p=713"},"modified":"2016-03-19T18:59:18","modified_gmt":"2016-03-19T05:59:18","slug":"volumetric-underwear-analysis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/?p=713","title":{"rendered":"Volumetric Underwear Analysis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a look at various travel &amp; backpacking sites, forums, &amp; YouTube channels, to get an idea of what approaches to laundry while travelling are out there.<\/p>\n<p>My previous approach of &#8220;I&#8217;ll take enough stuff that I don&#8217;t need to do laundry&#8221; won&#8217;t work with what I have planned, so it comes down to how many &#8216;days&#8217; of clothing to take.<br \/>\nSome folks advocate for a very low number, to minimise the amount of\u00a0<em>stuff<\/em> being lugged around.<br \/>\nI know someone who does conventions with three changes of clothes, so that one can be worn, one is ironed &amp; ready to wear, and the other is drying in the bathroom of the hotel, having been washed in the sink.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d had the idea that I could try a couple of weeks worth of clothes, and if it turned out that this was too many, I&#8217;d figure it out in New Zealand, so I could just post the excess home. Wasn&#8217;t sure what 14 days of\u00a0<em>stuff<\/em> would look like, so I got out the pack and did a test with 7 shirts\/socks\/underwears.<br \/>\nFigured I&#8217;d then add another 7.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_20160319_181046223.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-729\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-729 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_20160319_181046223-e1458366715702-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20160319_181046223\" width=\"530\" height=\"707\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_20160319_181046223-e1458366715702-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/hoarde.net\/craigblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_20160319_181046223-e1458366715702-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Well, that answered the 7 or 14 question, didn&#8217;t it?<br \/>\nThings could be stuffed down more, but not a whole lot more, and doubling the amount would just about fill the central volume of the pack.
