Packing up went very well; I think the most difficult part of the whole process was finding the bins for the apartment complex, because they were on the other side of the building about as far away from the entrance as it was possible to get. They were also full to overflowing, which meant that the recycling had to be carried to another different bin for reasons I don’t fully understand because from what I could tell it’s not like the lack of space had stopped anybody else from leaving recycling beside the recycling bin. I’m sure there was a reason, I just have no idea what i<\/em>t was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breakfast, after some wandering across to the Old town and some general wandering around, was from a little cafe in a little alleyway, and consisted of some absolutely monster grilled cheese sandwiches. These things were like a taco in terms of the sheer quantity of contents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We hopped the tram out to the airport which was quite nice and would have been utterly horrible for the trip in from the airport given the illness of that one member of the group; Nobody wants to be on a tram with somebody clutching and using a sick bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My seat was a few rows behind Alex and Kayleigh, but then there was nobody sitting in the aisle on their row and Wizz Air don’t mind if you move into empty seats, so we got to sit together for the flight back. Naturally there was plane wine, though we did reluctantly talk ourselves out of getting a full size bottle of prosecco to share. We’ll do that on the next tri<\/em>p.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, despite a fair number of things going wrong, everyone had about as good a time as was possible. It would have been nice to avoid the whatever the hell it was that hit that one member of the group so hard, but at least it didn’t spread, and thankfully it didn’t take them amount for the entire trip or require a hospital visit. Similarly, avoiding being eaten alive by mosquitoes probably would have improved one person’s trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was definitely my first “travel overseas for a holiday with friends” trip, and I think it was a success. I’d quite like to go back to Bordeaux, though the idea of taking the train either there or back or both has a certain appeal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
