One of the events I did was a one hour Paint And Take thing where they gave us a miniature with a base coat, some supplies, and someone to explain a few techniques and otherwise be enthusiastic and friendly while we blobbed paint around. It was a free event, though they did have tickets as a demand management thing, so they’d seat all of the ticket holders first, then fill the spaces with anyone around who was interested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’d thought I’d done a pretty good job, and I’m very happy with the results, but once I zoomed in on those photos I saw how clean the lines aren’t<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was fun, and oddly relaxing. Just sitting there, idly chatting with people if a conversation broke out ( the ‘instructor’ kept up a flow of relaxed chat, about painting & conventions & games in general ), having a go at a new thing.
