According to the booking, this is a city view room, to distinguish it from a lake view room. Franky, I think I’m winning; There’s a hospital out there somewhere, but the trees are doing a great job of hiding it.
I don’t remember when I found, or was told about, this place, but it was at least a decade ago. I try to visit when I’m in town, because they’re good, and have a relaxed quirky thing going on.
The drinks get served with a tiny little cube of caramel something, about the size of a sugar cube. Someone at one of the outside tables left one behind, but the civic-minded sparrows of Rotorua were there to clean it up.

And the lake, looking all scenic.
I had a few bad nights of sleep here, so I didn’t get as much done as I wanted to. Tiredness meant that I was missing details, and having to do extra double & triple checking to be sure I wasn’t doing something stupid.
It wasn’t a total loss, to be clear; Just not as productive as I’d have liked, and there was one incident of “this is a sufficiently bad error that I need to stop doing anything and re-group”. It turned out OK, but was the sort of mistake/lapse I should have spotted, so I didn’t really trust that I could get much done after that one until I’d gotten back to an even keel, as it were.
