I had a vague plan to go to the Night Safari this evening, but by around midday I noticed that I felt a bit … off … so flagged that idea in favour of a more relaxed day. And I’m happy with how it turned out.

I’d headed out to get a lunch of some form, but made a tactical error by taking the wrong exit from a station & ending up in a loud crowded mall with hard to find exits. Annoyingly, when I did find a way out, the way I tried that I thought would take me somewhere useful dumped me back into the damn mall again. Eventually escaped by retracing my steps back to the station & trying again.
On the plus side, I did see this thing.

I went splat for some of the afternoon, though I’ve now booked a hostel for days 2-7 in Hanoi, and set up with a recommended Uber-equivalent app to try to reduce the number of scams I get taken in by.
I decided to venture out to see the fountain & light show at Marina Bay. It’s a bit hard to photograph, so I didn’t bother, but I did grab a few moments of video for those who are interested.

Also got some video of the big bowl/waterfall thing in the Shoppes from above.
I’d initially thought that I could head across to the Gardens for another light show, but hadn’t anticipated the crowds, of the fact that my proposed route up & through the hotel was only one-way. I could see where I wanted to go, but not how to get there.
So be it. I can go another time.
Had a couple of conversations with people today;
- Chatted to a Turkish guy in the hotel dorm about things to do & see in Singapore
- Talked with an elderly local guy on the train about NZ in general, but also people working in different countries
Oh, and I bought a nice cheese focaccia roll thing from a little local bakery place.
