Only 50% Churn Today

Another high turnover day at About A Bed, with 19 beds checking out, though only 18 checking in. Phai the Owner mentioned that she was waiting to see whether there would be an Off The Street walk-in to take that one remaining bed, but given that the one above me is empty, I’m guessing that didn’t happen. Or someone’s going to show up at midnight.

Phai & Hu Hu attempting to ward off The Doom Plague. Or a bad head cold.

Had more energy today, probably because I slept better & got up earlier. I was able to book some Europe travel that I meant to do yesterday but couldn’t find the concentration for, and I extended my stay here for a few more days, because at this point I’m not going to pretend that I’ll do any side trips from Chiang Mai. I’m done.

I figured this was a possibility, and planned for it with a longer stay in Thailand. I’ve had a mostly good time travelling in SEA, but the energy is fading, and that was probably accelerated by the Bangkok unwellness. My attention & interest is shifting a bit.

It was a good afternoon & evening in the hostel. More new folks, & a lot of chatting happened, in the classic Where Are You From/Where Are You Going/Where Have You Been style of hostels.

  1. I’ve enjoyed the trip, aside from the occasional awful bit, but slower travel in quieter places definitely works better for me at the moment.
Chiang Mai is definitely a place I’d like to come back to though.

  2. Time to wrap it up and head on down the road. It’s been a great trip seeing it through your eyes. Fun.
