Legend In The Mist – Rustic Fantasy & Goo

I’d been seeing some stuff about a game called City of Mist, a sort of Supernatural Noir thing, but couldn’t get a session; Then I noticed demos of Legend in the Mist, their fantasy variant, using the same or a similar system.
So I figured, why not?

I ran into the guy who’d run an impromptu1 game of Rapscallion for us last year in one of the hallways, and it turned out that he was now doing demos/games for the City of Mist/Legend in the Mist folks2, so there was at least a chance he’d be running the demo. Sadly, not the case; He was running a ‘city’ demo at the other table in the room.

It was a one-hour demo, so there was a limit to what we could do, but we saved a small child from some goo-animated creature shambling through the barley, tracked it to the flooded remains of a tower, did a deal for information with one of the Fairy Folk, and battled the goo some more.

It was interesting, and what I saw of the system seemed simple enough: They gave us copies of the demo game, so I can read through that & see what I think of it.

1 The organising company (Magpie) didn’t have enough people, which is a bit of a known thing for them, and while he wasn’t rostered on & didn’t know the game we’d intended to play, he threw together something for the five of us left hanging.
2 Citing issues with cost, Magpie didn’t have a game-running presence this year. I hope they’ll be back, but I hope it’s in a less ambitious way, because they’ve become known for last-minute calls for GMs & for not having enough people to put on the events they sold tickets for.
