A Few Days In Auckland

I’m still dealing with jetlag induced slump, so this is a bit of a short one.

I slept as much as I could in the hotel, but eventually had to get up, have breakfast, and face the day. Monday, specifically.

Picked up the rental car and drove it to L+C’s without significant incident, though I did end up in the wrong lane at one point & had to take Google Maps’ alternative route. One of those classic Auckland unmarked lane split things.

Driving was kind of tiring, so once I got to L+C’s that was it for the day; Caught up with them for the afternoon, met the cats, that sort of thing.

These things are still good

Tuesday was Go See The Parents day. Also get an NZ SIM card day, but that bit didn’t work out so well, and the whole thing was complicated by their phone being cut off because of some kind of utilities work in the street, so I just … turned up.

It was my father’s birthday, so we had some cake, and they’d saved a chunk of the birthday cake they’d got for my birthday a few weeks earlier.

Got caught in traffic on the way home.

Wednesday I managed to get a SIM card. Part of the issue yesterday was that I could only find one cellphone provider, and they had more customers than staff. It may be that I completely missed one, because the one I was looking for had rebranded, so I might have walked straight past them & not noticed that they did cellphones.

Visited my storage unit. There’s a lot of stuff in there.

Got caught in traffic this day too.

This was also the day that C+L left, so I’m in charge of the cats, to the extent that they recognise my authority, which is minimal.

Thursday … Started well, but the slump eventually hit. This happened in Vegas as well; Two days of energy, a day of slump.

Visited a mall to get a few things, and to get out of the house.

The cats are unsure about the replacement human, and would like the regular humans to return, but one did decide that I made an acceptable substitute.
