The Quiet Day

There’s a lot going on here, and I don’t think I understand any of it

My goal for today was to leave the hostel, and I managed it. Travel days often mess me up & leave me exhausted, so I tend to plan for that.

Slept until 10, so I’m going to assume that the travel day really did take it out of me. Not because I was doing much, because I wasn’t, but because it’s kind of stressful & unbalancing at the best of times & in the best of situations, and these aren’t them.

I did have a plan for my back of the mind unwelcome thought of “what if I screwed up something on the arrival card because I was filling it out on my phone on the airport floor”, though it could be argued that the plan was more of a Natural Consequences sort of deal. My Vietnam visa expired that day, so I couldn’t go back, so if I also couldn’t go into Cambodia, the next question becomes “where can I fly to from here”, with the easiest answer being Singapore.

My excursion for the day was to walk down the road & across the river to the more touristy bit of Siem Reap, which I think is Pub Street & the Market. It’s… Pretty much what I expected?

They have some different sorts of transport options here; The enclosed body tuktuk things, but also a larger capacity option that’s basically a nicely decorated passenger trailer towed by a motorbike.

The “please buy stuff” people are maybe more persistent than in Vietnam, but also more chill about it.

Anyway, it was a good quiet half-day. Found the water dispensers in the hostel, had a walk, and going to try for an early night.
