The Kelpies

I’m sure that the trip to the Kelpies is pretty & scenic on a good day, but it wasn’t one, so it was mostly damp but still a bit interesting in places.

Took the train out to Falkirk from Edinburgh Waverley, even though Google Maps really wanted to send me to Haymarket station by bus, possibly out of a desire to reduce walking? It’s Edinburgh; I’m not sure that reducing walking is a realistic goal.

There was a bus I could have taken from the station, but the weather wasn’t particularly threatening, so I walked it. It’s not the most interesting walk as you pass through the commercial bit of the town, or the housing bit, but once you pass through a light industrial section you get to the canal, which leads to the Kelpies.

I attempted to do some video bits, but the audio was awful – I’d probably need a proper microphone to get around that issue.

Obligatory landscape selfie
They weren’t lit up during the day, but according to the postcards available there’s a Demon Horse illumination option
Spotted this on the way back, which I’d hoped was a magic portal to somewhere warm. Sadly, it was not.

    Demon Horse. That’s about right.

  2. I hold the hope that, when Scotland is in peril, the Kelpies will tear themselves loose from the ground and defend the country by stomping on things.
