Microbe Zoo

The Microbe Zoo (Artis Micropia) was recommended to me by somebody on the PillowFort social media community, and I’m really glad they did because it was great fun.

I followed the wrong canal initially and ended up taking a very roundabout route to get to the place. On the positive side there were nice things to see along the way, including this bird who was just hanging out on a bridge.

The area just across a canal from the hostel used to be a toll house for the port or city of Amsterdam, which is why it has the name it does. Nowadays it’s a bit architectural and artistic, with some Deco-looking buildings leftover from the Shell facility that was here
I may have missed one of the stamps; it’s not entirely clear how many there are supposed to be. Person at the desk had one number their scanning system had a different number, and my total was in between the two.

There was a talk on microscopy (in English) by one of the people from their lab. Had an inadvertent nerd moment when they asked for suggestions on what the purpose of their lab was, and I answered correctly. Because I’d read the information plaque on the lab window.
