Episode Seventy Three – … (again)

 ... (again)

Red tape controls the Bureau for Lost Time Retrieval, but unrecorded anomalies are the operative’s bread and butter.

The Alien Invasion can only be thwarted by a Coalition of the Mad!  Now all they have to do is agree on what colour to make the deathrays.

The Planner proposes a scheme and the Naysayer “helpfully” reminds them how it didn’t go so well last time.  Is thwarted just another word for nothing left to lose?

Also;

“There’s clearly no one source of truth in this scenario, because everyone has their own  views about things.”

“Everyone is a filthy liar.”

“Yeah”.

“Also, that could totally be the title.”

“Everyone Is A Flithy Liar.”

    Rifts? Change? Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

From what I can tell, and bear in mind I’m not a Palladium expert but I have read and played several of their games over the decades, there has basically been no mechanical evolution in anything Palladium has published since the late 80s. The fact that Rifts Savage Worlds is now Kickstarting is probably a sign of the Apocalypse.

I understand it’s not so much bug as a feature. I (fondly?) remember things like the skills bleeding from the earlier game to the later, like boxing and ice hockey being in TMNT and After the Bomb when it didn’t quite make sense.

Wow, super show notes palooza! Looking forward to the insanity on this one. 🙂

    • Ben says:

There a quite a number call-backs to topics from earlier episodes in this, but hopefully mashed up in new and unsettling ways.

  3. Tim Soholt says:

By the way, you guys have actually inspired me to go hunting down Sapphire & Steel episodes on a certain popular video streaming site after many years of having heard good things about the show but never actually tracking it down.

    • Ben says:

Awesome. Do brace yourself for the pre-MTV era BBC drama pacing. It still works, but it is a touch on the glacial side.

      • Tim Soholt says:

I watched a lot of Pertwee-era Doctor Who as a kid; I’m managing. I also found out that they’re streaming legitimately at shoutfactorytv.com.

        • Ben says:

Wow! That’s a *fascinating* range of classic media, but sadly it doesn’t appear to be available in the Outer Void, I mean outside the US and Canada.

We’ve been chastised on the Facebook for the appalling (Shocked, I say!) ignorance of the hosts regarding the White Wolf fan hack “Genius: The Transgression”.

It definitely cleaves to the ST game traditional format…. …holy b*lls, that PDF is nearly 500 pages long.
