“Interestingly, the exhaust turned out to be not particularly radioactive. In fact, chemical poisoning from erosion in the exhaust of the beryllium oxide ceramic used would have been about as toxic as the radiation. Of course, the exhaust didn’t need to be particularly dangerous, since the vehicle had an essentially unshielded half-Gigawatt reactor as the power source. The flight plan was to launch with solid rocket boosters to ramjet speed then start the reactor to climb and accelerate to cruise conditions. It would move to a Go/No Go position and wait to be sent into battle, or to the bottom of the deep ocean. If it did go on the attack, as SLAM approached the enemy’s border it would dive to barely above treetop height to avoid radar, while flying to its targets at about Mach 3. The sonic boom alone would have pulped most living things under its path, while the radiation and heat from the reactor would sterilize everything.”

Of course! Here at the BRC, we feel that if people are engaged enough try and figure out what we are rambling about, the least we can do is vaguely point them in the right direction.
You guys tied into two other podcasts I listen to regularly!
Milton Keynes is the home of the hosts of The Good Friends of Jackson Elias, two of whom are the co-creators of Call of Cthulhu 2nd edition.
Red Markets was created by Caleb Stokes, one of the regulars on Role Playing Public Radio. A lot of their playtests are available on their Actual Play feed. He’s explicitly called it “economic horror,” so it’s pretty clear he doesn’t think rampant capitalism is a good thing. He also has a real hate on for Objectivism – the Randian faction is second only to the U.S. government on the “blatantly evil” scale.
Excellent. We are maintaining our “stopped clock” level of quality.
The Good Friends looks like an informed and insightful bunch, with actual industry experience, and the some appropriately eclectic tastes. I will have to check them out, and expect to hear many dark secrets whispered about Milton Keynes.
It’s a groundless fear, but I wonder if Red Markets will be run by some GMs as an “old school” meat-grinder game. It’s clearly not supposed be a power fantasy, but I wonder if it might lure the old “rocks fall” crowd out of the woodwork.

As for Red Markets, it sounds really clever but not the sort of game I’d want to play terribly often. I’m not super into horror, and I’m not super into “people are terrible” as a theme; Red Markets seems to be both of those in spades. Still fun to listen to, though . . .
Hey Craig, if you ever do run “Kid’s Last Tour” I’d love an actual play report, just to know what your players did!
