And At 9:17, My Room Was Ready

OK, I’mma gonna warn you in advance; This’ll have a lot of frankly annoying praise of the JW Marriott Indianapolis.

Email saying that my room was ready arrived at 9:17.
Said room was, in fact ready, and because I was the first identified Gen Con person to check in, they gave me some of last year’s JW Marriott dice that they hand out on check-out. (which I don’t get because I’m checking out after the Gen Con period is over)

Oh, and the view from the room’s not bad either.

And now, I’m going to go and have a very long shower.

And possibly store the clothing I’ve been wearing for a long damn time in a lead casket, so that it can be buried in a salt flat, lest it rise to exact it’s vengeance upon the world.
That can happen; Saw it in a movie once.

  1. Huzzah for room and free dice!
We just watched Jupiter Ascending: that was a big imaginative daft film. I’m impressed someone managed to get high-budget high-concept high-lunacy space-opera off the ground.
And yeah, there were a few overlong dogfight things in there. The pacing generally felt Odd.
I’m also amazed it’s a film that doesn’t kill Sean Bean! I thought that was barred by law.

  2. I already have 50% more dice than when I left New Zealand; True story.
also, I nearly forgot to pack dice, to the extent that they’re stuffed into my carry-on, as the suitcase was locked up. I grabbed a set of Fate dice, as I’ll be getting the Gen Con souvenir ones anyway, so I don’t really need to bring polyhedrals

Good to hear that Jupiter Ascending is worth finishing. I heard some unflattering reviews, but as they mostly seemed to be complaints about the lead actors, and not their acting, I figured that I’d ignore those folks.

  3. Augh I forgot you hadn’t finished it, sorry about TEH SPOILARZ.

It’s not a bad film? There’s plenty of Whoosh BOOM! going on, certainly. And the ending wasn’t a sudden downward turn from the rest of the film.

  4. I don’t mind a spoiler that means I don’t have to not get attached to a Sean Bean character; Makes a refreshing change.
