I’m dividing this day into chunks, because it’s mostly photographs.
The East Gate, or what I assume is the East Gate, was covered in scaffolding, so the exit was through a tumbledown gap in the wall. I tried to get a decent picture of it, because it looked interesting, but … Difficult to do.
Probably three hours to go through the complex in a sort of twisty line west to east.
After that was a lunch break. We ended up with quite an odd mix of folks on the tour, with ⅓ of them working in the NGO sector, so the clump around me at lunch were
- 2 Italian women who work in Cambodia & Vietnam respectively. The Cambodia based one for a landmine clearing outfit who use animals for detection purposes (saw a Meet Our Rats billboard from the bus)
- Guy who works for the UN in Vienna on NGO stuff
- British Indian woman who works in Child Welfare in Uganda
An Indian couple based in Wisconsin, plus me, completed the cluster at our tables.
