Christmas in Chiang Mai

Mostly, just a regular day in Chiang Mai, though I did sleep in & have some somewhat festive biscuits for breakfast. I say somewhat because there’s a limit to how Christmassy a box of shortbread-adjacent snacks from the slightly larger convenience store can really be.

Had a nice breakfast at the Travellers Arms, which appears to be a sports bar with accomodation & a focus on football, based on the constant stream of UK games on the TVs. The volume is turned down, thankfully.

Did some wandering around, some reading in cafés, some reading on a bench in the shade of a tree by the city moat, … It was a nice way to spend the day.

This place, Bloomin’ Moon, did have a large orange cat, but it was not interested in people-ing. They also had a guest in their accommodation area whose shoes had gone missing, and seemed to be looking through CCTV footage to unsuccessfully investigate the Great Sandal Heist.

They wished me a Merry Christmas as I left

Back at the hotel, they’d left a Christmas gift, so I now have some branded Rodman Hotel pencils.

I’d looked up various places that would probably be doing Christmas Stuff (within walking distance there’s an Irish Pub & a place called the Red Lion), but in the end it didn’t seem that important, so I had the traditional Yuletide Chicken & Cashews stir-fry instead.
